welcome to another video,today i um,i was resisting saying welcome to,another bloomberg terminal video because,as you can tell we are not in the,bloomberg platform today were going to,be taking a look at the metastock zenith,slash,refinitive icon software package,and what this is is its a stripped down,version of,refinitive icon which is formerly known,as thompson reuters icon it is,bloombergs or arguably bloombergs,largest competitor and this platform uh,zenith here is designed for,uh retail traders this is for,non-institutional use and i thought that,would be a perfect reason to showcase it,here,on my channel,bloomberg as you well know if you watch,the first video that i made on it is,incredibly inaccessible to,your average retail trader,uh monthly cost is in excess of two,thousand dollars easily for a bare bones,version with delayed quotes and and,limited access if any access at all to,research,and so while youre similarly getting,delayed quotes in metastock zenith slash,definitive icon here,um,youre getting it at a much,better value so the bare bones version,of this will run you 150 bucks a month,and thats exactly what ive paid for it,to explore it i am not doing this for,metastock im not doing this for,refinative i have no deals with anybody,i spent my own money on this platform,because i was interested in checking it,out,as such this is going to be a cursory,video,im not um completely comfortable with,the the zenith platform,im exploring it every day and im,actually its growing on me,id say im much more comfortable with,bloomberg ill say you know i enjoy the,bloomberg experience a little bit more,but i think thats just a matter of me,being accustomed to it but as i say you,know this is a very promising platform,and i think its worth taking a look at,if youre a retail trader slash investor,um because you get a lot of the same,access to the information and in sort of,aggregates it in one place as bloomberg,does,so were going to take a look at some,different areas and if theres continued,interest then ill you know sort of,expand,on different topic areas as i did with,the bloomberg terminal videos,so without further ado lets take a look,at the platform and you can see that it,you know has some similarities to the,bloomberg terminal in terms of you know,the dark colors and the orange,uh that you get in the uh text and so,forth but,it is uh very much different so,what you can see here is the uh news,page which i have set as my default page,the way icon works is everything is sort,of modular when you type in a command,everything opens up in a new window,and i hate that,because i like everything to be in one,window thats just my preference so ive,set it so that when i when i type a new,command up here it will open up in a new,tab which is very useful,so one of the things i think we should,take a look at first and foremost is,equities,so,similar to bloomberg when you type in a,security into the search bar it will,load as the default security so any,future functions,will open up using that security,so you can see ive got apple loaded in,here but lets go ahead and change that,because,i think everyone starts with apple so,lets take a look at,lets say tesla so you can type in the,ticker symbol,ticker symbol for tesla or you can type,in the company name in this case ill,just type in the company name and you,can see,the suggestion feature automatically,brings up tesla incorporated with some,sub functions overview quote financial,chart and so forth so lets just click,the,security and you can see it will pop,open with the company overview,this is simpler similar to the des,function,in the bloomberg terminal,right away you get pricing information,volume,all that good stuff fundamental data,uh recent news and a business summary,and i think we should just take a look,through this page here,and you can see for yourself,so let me just click here for a sec,and youve got information on the,companys executives,segments where revs are coming from,well go back to the main page here,and you can see that youve got these,tabs up here along with sub menus and,well well click through some of these,we wont go through all of them because,well be here all day,uh you got price performance lets take,a look at evaluation,and i think one of the things youre,going to find when youre in the um,refinitive platform is that,a lot of the functions and features are,not available to you now i havent,particularly found this to be a handicap,but its something that you should know,about regardless,lets take a look at the news,you can see what that looks like,uh news monitor,actually i havent clicked in this yet,so i dont know what that that does,social media,okay so this is kind of interesting this,is social media sentiment and social,media sentiment around tesla,uh at least you know,for a while now has been pretty positive,and this this,is reflected here,you may recall that in 2000 i want to,say 18 2017 i mean the sentiment on,social media was pretty,pretty grim,things have since improved,significant developments,and now lets go to,pricing charts,so it looks like this is showing you a,time in sales which,i guess is okay,lets take a look at short interest,this is pretty useful information,uh the aztec score which shows you how,cheap or expensive it is to borrow,shares too short,and ill also give you a comparison here,uh lets see what charts shows us here,so you have a normal 2d chart here you,can also do like candle charts if you,want,um,lets click there and see if that brings,up the candle chart for us,it,does not,but,uh,lets see change line type candles okay,so thatll let you change that change,that to bars,actually and then you can apply studies,if you want lets say bollinger bands,and,obviously we can add volume as well,so this is this is pretty capable in,terms of charting not my favorite i have,to be honest with you but,it is certainly on par with what you get,with with bloomberg certainly for the,basic functions anyway,um,we wont spend,too much time on this but lets just,pull a trend channel,see how that works,okay cool,so admittedly i havent spent a lot of,time with the um,with the platform so far as i mentioned,earlier but so im learning im learning,as i do this with you,so lets go ahead and,hit the estimates tab,looks like its trying to load in some,data and also my computer is not the,fastest,okay so this provides us with a,income statement we can pull the balance,sheet and one of the things ive,learned as well is that you can sort of,do shortcuts,to get to specific pages for instance,um lets say i was on the overview page,here i could go to my,bar and do tsla.obl,and that will take me directly to the,balance sheet so its a little bit more,complicated than the bloomberg terminal,but you can still do it here,and the um,whats appended on the ticker symbol is,the exchange so some of them like apple,will have,a dot o,if you look at something like palantir,thatll have a dot k,and so thats part of whats called the,rick the ric which i think stands for,the reuters,uh,industry classification or something,like that,let me google that,because i want to make sure i get that,right,it is the reuters instrument code sorry,about that,so they have their own sort of,you know syntax,but its not its not something that,will,prevent you from getting to,you know an instrument if you dont know,what the what to append because you can,just type in,you know the symbol and it will suggest,it automatically,okay,so lets take a look at the financials,refinitive financials here,you have all this good stuff income,statement balance sheet statement of,cash flows we wont go,into that,esg if you want to take a look at the,officers,serving obviously elon musk the chief,executive,get all sorts of information about these,people and how long theyve been there,what their comp is like,lets take a look what this is p 500 and dow jones,industrial so how do we do that,on icon so,a door here and,what is this this is,an app called,financial charge and okay,it is on my main page but what if,you dont have it on your main page,how do you find it app,library and,financial charge,open,and here we have it so,we dont want this instrument here,i dropped our company exo mobile so,exo mobile,here,okay the second one petrobras brazil,petrobras,and lets check it,later british petroleum,dp,british petroleum bp,and lets move on oh,l company,oh here what do we have so we have here,uh the orange one is exo the,purple paste this one you need to,print screen,and then save it as some figure and,some journals they dont allow it,they are they demand for editable,charts so how do we fix it so,one year is too much lets go back to,the,standard six month,okay how do we do that,lets do this chart on excel,so lets save with some,temp and by the way the excel file will,be,all it is on video,description okay,lets open this temp here,and how definitive i could export it,they it as,uh the numbers and,lets do the chart here insert,chart just like icon and,here we are,thats not pretty quite that is not,pretty they are not on the same scale,here we have here some,huge ones that is,dow jones and then the second one here,s p 500 and all of the other ones they,are,too low man,and they are they have different,starting points,so that is bad,how do we fix it we fix it using,and here is also bad because,they have different starting points here,so and when they are the same here,that means that for instance this purple,one petroglyphs,its much higher than it looks because,it,the starting point was much lower,so how do we put all of them on the same,starting point,and then we are able to compare,their behavior much better,changing the price series here so this,one is the absolute price,go here absolute price,and lets change it,total return,total return,oh why do we have here the same starting,points,the starting point is zero and now we,can check,their behaviors which one is,better so the purple one petroglyphs was,the best one,for a lot of time and then,here let me move myself here,oh late september it starts going down,and then the two,control index they go better the s,p 500 the yellow one and the dow jones,the,gray one however it is much better than,the,other oil companies as such,and then the uh,the worst one is the shell,company it is the worst one so,lets export this to excel,lets give another name and one,okay attempt one,however to make it pretty lets scope,and paste,this one to our first,excel file,here and we call it total return,and lets insert our chart again,oh now its much better,now its much better so we are able,to see it same starting point zero and,then,we are having the,companies here,so lets close this step one,oh first of all lets,copy and paste here so the first one,exomobile,mobile the second one petrobras,bp shell,gas prom snp,500 and downs industrial,wow our excel chart now is much,much better and then if you will be,using this chart on papers,to send to any journals uh you can send,them,or you can copy paste this one and it,will be editable,and also there are some journals that,they are requiring the data,so you can also send it data so,you will have two in one here,okay guys so this is quite fun and,uh you can compare 20 different,instruments and here you can compare,stocks you can compare,indexes you can compare,funds so you can compare a lot of,other numbers,numbers here okay so you can compare,uh any other instruments even if they,are not related for instance,lets compare it with amazon,and whatever its up to you,to choose the ones that you will be,wanting to compare so you can compare,almost,everything and amazon wow its good good,good but not,so good at some companies here,for instance exo and so on and then,it goes up up up and on the,last periods here it goes up,if you want to delete it just come here,and you can delete
